SEC thrillers

This past Saturday, SEC fans witnessed a few thrilling games. The day started off with Georgia surviving a scare against Tennessee. Todd Gurley, Georgia's Heisman Candidate did his part in the Dawgs' win, as he rushed for 208 yards on 28 carries. Justin Worley (Tennessee) out preformed Hutson Mason (Georgia) on the day, as he threw for 264 yards and 3 touchdowns. Mason threw 2 picks while throwing for a lone touchdown in the second quarter. Long story short, the Vols defense put the offense in a hole, which they could not get out of.

Another great game played in the SEC East on Saturday was between the South Carolina Gamecocks, and the Missouri Tigers, in the battle of the two Columbia's. Early in the 4th quarter, Carolina extended their lead to 20-7, before Mizzou came storming back with two quick scoring drives, and 14 unanswered points. With about a minute and a half left in the game, the Gamecocks got the ball back, and gave one last try to bring the ball into field goal range. After failing to convert on fourth down, the Gamecocks handed the ball right back to the Tigers who just had to kneel the ball twice to run the clock out. The Tigers' win moves them to 4-1 on the season, and the Gamecocks dropped to 3-2.

In another thrilling game, this one taking place in the West, Texas A&M beat Arkansas in a shootout. Kenny Hill, the Aggies' quarterback threw for 386 yards and had 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. It took a late touchdown from the Aggies' to force overtime, where Kenny Hill found Malcome Kennedy for a touchdown that turned out to be the game winner, after the Razorbacks failed to do anything with their drive.

Is Jameis Winston Worthy of the Number 1 Overall pic

Arguably the most controversial player in NCAA sports at the moment, Jameis Winston, was benched in FSU's overtime win against Clemson on Saturday. Winston, who was suspended orignally for the first half, was suspended for the second half as ongoing investigations occured. Earlier this year, Winston had been cited for sexual assault and theft of crab legs from a local store. Accusations started flooding over the star after he lead the Seminoles to a National Title, and won the most coveted award in college football, the Heisman Memorial trophy.
All the accusations against the young quarter back questions of the star's maturity. Winston is expected to declare himself eligible for the upcoming draft after this college football season. Yesterday's  suspension did not help in his draft eligibility, as his backup quarterback beat a very good Clemson team who now has fallen to 1-2 on the season. Also his record of getting in trouble will haunt owners and coaches all over the NFL. No team college or professional wants this big of distraction taking over all the media. Negative attention like assault, moves team performance to the background. Look at the Baltimore Ravens right now, everything you hear coming from this franchise is, Ray Rice. Ray Rice this, Ray Rice that. He isn't even on the team anymore, but the team is still stuck in the sticky situation that the player left the team in. Winston has put his team in many bad situations, but always seems to get off scot free. If he keeps putting himself in bad positions, soon he will find himself locked up in a cell, or suspended from both of the games he loves, baseball and football.
