"It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up." Vince Lombardi
This quote, should not just be inspiration to people, but should be a lifestyle. If you want to be succesful in life, you will first be knocked down, and then you can choose what to do from there. Many athletes will stumble on something that can turn their lives upside down, but if they move on they become mentally stronger. If they stay down, they will never have a chance to advance in life, and will live in the shadows of their mistakes. You always want to strive to make up for your mistakes, because then you go into a new situation with a clean slate, and there is nothing to worry about.
"The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary." Vince Lombardi
Nobody is born successful, but many strive to be the best they can be. You will never reach your goals, without working on how to get there. If you don't work at something, chances are you will not only bring yourself down to a lower level, but you will bring your whole team down with you. Say you are one of the best forwards in hockey, and you decide that you have had enough for the day. The other forwards probably look up to you, and think that what you do is law (especially those rookies). Next thing you know, the whole hockey team is off the ice an hour early, and you're to blame. After awhile, not only you, but the whole team will be lacking the speed and strength that is required, and your team will start to lose there grip in the standings.

2012 season, Sept. 24th
As we all know, the MLB season is winding down. So far three teams have punched there tickets to the Fall Classic, and 11 dreams have fallen through. The season went by very fast, and started promising for low market teams (like the Pirates), with the new wild card format. Well actually for most of the year, the standings have seemed backwards from recent years. I mean really, where did the Nationals and Orioles come from. We have seen the usual ups and downs of a season, but there were many more memorable moments than I can remember in years past. For example, there were six no-hitters, ( three perfect games, three no nos) including the King (Felix Hernandez) finally getting one of the few things that he needed to fulfill his already Hall of Fame Career, and a combined no-hitter by Seattle. The Angels new acquisitions were outshone by the rookie sensation in Mike Trout. If it weren't for Miguel Cabrera's Triple Crown run, Mike might be in line for a MVP award.
Just think, next year there will be an inter-league series every week! Oh wait is that a good thing?

Miguel vs Carl
At the end of last year, would you have ever thought of Carl Yastrzemski when you heard Miguel Cabrera's name. If you answered no, then you are like many American's. Now you might know that Miguel is leading all three of the AL Batting Triple Crown categories (batting average, RBI's, and home runs). He will be the first batter since Yaz to win the infamous award. No offense, but even now I don't really picture him like the Red Sox great. Sure he is facing the good hitters of, Josh Hamilton, Albert Pujols, and Prince Fielder, but he isn't facing the Hall of Fame greats. I mean can you compare Josh Hamilton to Ted Williams, Pujols to Hank Aaron, or Prince to Mickey Mantle. I hope you answered no to all of those, because you have the last batter ever to hit four hundred ( Teddy), the second place career home run hitter (Hank, should be number one), and the 1956 Triple Crown winner (Mickey). Anyway it still is a huge accomplishment for Cabrera, IF he does win the Crown. I guess it is about time for a new reigning TC champion, it has been a long 45 years.
